RTL launches special interest social network community for its daily soap format

Constance, 26th January 2009

With "Gute Zeiten schlechte Zeiten" (GZSZ) the tv station RTL is producing one of the most popular daily soaps in German television.
It has been running for years and has constantly attracted new viewers to the screen.

As the series became more and more successful, RTL decided to release an special interest fan magazine for the daily soap.
With this it was possible not only to sell advertisement for the tv series but also to sell adds in fan magazines. This makes it possible to access the special target group of the soap viewers even when they are not watching tv. For fans it made it possible to get more information about their favorite actors and additional background information on the show.

But what still wasn't possible was the interaction between the whole group of fans of the soap. Now with the launch of its GZSZ online social network community RTL has managed to complete the "brand" GZSZ. This specialized niche community only concentrates on topics around the GZSZ universe. Here fans can meet and get together. Can discuss and talk about their problems and interests. They can meet new people, bond and can found new friendships.

With this marketing tool RTL is on the cutting edge of innovative technology use.
